Welcome to PulseCinema

We’re humans just like you.  We are curious! We enjoy getting lost to find what’s new and fresh.  We have ideas, feelings, and desires.  Most of all we love to explore, collaborate, and take part in telling stories with emotion and honesty.  It’s what drives us. We are a Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD video production company, but are happy to travel for a good story!

We listen.  We ask questions.  We make films. We help you find solutions to address the root needs or desires for you and your business.  Do you need to raise money?  Do you need to raise awareness for your business? Do you need to save time or off load work by creating a film? We tell stories, whether big or small or any place in between.

We’re a team of creative individuals who love to work with interesting people and companies. Our doors are open because we want to be part of your story. Our videos and films have helped open awareness, raise money, and promote the people and businesses with whom we work.

"Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away."

Our Founder

Chris McGuinness: Director/Cinematographer

For me, life is about finding passions, pursuing dreams and connecting with people.

When I was a young boy, I asked many questions, loved to explore, and was fascinated by gadgets. One day I found a vintage 1930s light meter in our attic.  I took that meter everywhere I went and was fascinated that I could measure and study the strength and qualities of light. I wondered about who had held the meter and what photos they might have taken.  I look back now and I feel that this lost treasure helped me find a course, which would ultimately lead me to become a storyteller. I am incredibly fortunate to do what I love for work.

Everyone has a story!  Here’s a bit of mine:

I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Maryland at Baltimore County, with a degree in Visual Arts. I have lived and worked in Los Angels on feature films as a Film Editor and Director of Photography. I currently live in Maryland and produce, write, DP, and direct Documentary style films, TV commercials, corporate films, music videos, and short films. I tend not to seek out awards, because I believe our work speaks for itself; however, our clients have entered our films and won many awards.

I have a wonderful wife and two terrific kids who amaze me every single day. I love to hike. (Acadia Park is a favorite) I have lived in several places, been to many more, driven across this country multiple times, enjoy cooking, playing golf, hanging out with friends, meeting new people and hearing what makes them tick.

If that last paragraph felt like a cheesy dating site bio, I am not embarrassed to admit that I met my wife on Match.com around 14 years ago.

Enough about me. Let’s hear about you and how we can help you!

Thank you.

Produce & Write

Connections are what we do! As producers we work with you to connect the elements needed to complete your video project. As writers we work with you to emotionally connect your story to your target audience.

Directing is often about finding the honesty and emotion in a story. “I personally believe in studying and preparing to the fullest, yet being willing to let a beautiful and relevant tangent or idea unfold.” -Chris McGuinness

It has been said that a picture paints a thousand words. With that in mind, it is critical to create visuals that properly drive the message of the film. We believe Imagery should engage people in an honest emotional way and that its style, look, and tone should be designed to serve the film.

Animation can be a powerful tool in helping convey a message. We have a talented graphics animator on our team who is ready to make your next project a reality! See our animation reel!

Editing is where the magic all comes together. It has been said that the final rewrite of a story is done in the edit. A great video editor can and will help new ideas and thoughts rise to the surface.

Frederick Magazine has just published the online version of article about Director Salyer McLaughlin and his recent TV commercial for which I served as the cinematographer. This upcoming Mattress Warehouse commercial finds inspiration from Ridley Scott’s legendary Apple 1984 Super Bowl advertisement.
