Our Founder

Chris McGuinness: Producer/Director/Cinematographer

For me, life is about finding passions, pursuing dreams and connecting with people.

When I was a young boy, I asked many questions, loved to explore, and was fascinated by gadgets. One day I found a vintage 1930s light meter in our attic.  I took that meter everywhere I went and was fascinated that I could measure and study the strength and qualities of light. I wondered about who had held the meter and what photos they might have taken.  I look back now and I feel that this lost treasure helped me find a course, which would ultimately lead me to become a storyteller. I am incredibly fortunate to do what I love for work.

Everyone has a story!  Here’s a bit of mine:

I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Maryland at Baltimore County, with a degree in Visual Arts. I have lived and worked in Los Angels on feature films as a Film Editor and Director of Photography. I currently live in Maryland and produce, write, DP, and direct Documentary style films, TV commercials, corporate films, music videos, and short films. I tend not to seek out awards, because I believe our work speaks for itself; however, our clients have entered our films and won many awards.

I have a wonderful wife and two terrific kids who amaze me every single day. I love to hike. (Acadia Park is a favorite) I have lived in several places, been to many more, driven across this country multiple times, enjoy cooking, playing golf, hanging out with friends, meeting new people and hearing what makes them tick.

If that last paragraph felt like a cheesy dating site bio, I am not embarrassed to admit that I met my wife on Match.com around 14 years ago.

Enough about me. Let’s hear about you and how we can help you!

Thank you.

Produce & Write

Connections are what we do! As producers we work with you to connect the elements needed to complete your video production. As writers we work with you to emotionally connect your story to your target audience.

Directing video production is often about finding the honesty and emotion within the story. “I personally believe in studying and preparing to the fullest, yet being willing to let a beautiful and relevant tangent or idea unfold.” -Chris McGuinness

It has been said that a picture paints a thousand words. With that in mind, it is critical to create visuals that properly drive forward the message of your video production. We believe Imagery should engage people in an honest emotional way and that style, look, and tone should be designed to serve the film.

Animation can be a powerful tool in helping convey the message of a video production. We have a talented graphics animator on our team who is ready to make your next project a reality! Check out our graphics animation reel!

Editing is where the magic of a video production all comes together. It has been said that the final rewrite of a story is done in the edit. A great video editor can and will help important ideas and thoughts rise to the surface.

MYSTERIUM: A quick BTS “how to” on ink drop cloud tank visual effects.

I grew up in the 80s with Atari, model rockets, football in the street, and watching the movies that pushed the boundaries of special effects during the time period. One of the coolest special effects techniques included the usage of Cloud Tanks. When I first saw the dark ominous sky behind Indiana Jones and the work crew as they dug for the Ark of the Covenant, I remember feeling nervous and uneasy about what was to come… later that same foreboding sky opened in a frighting and dramatic way to envelop the evildoers and reseal the Ark.

Watch the journey of mushrooms in 2 mins!

When I was a young boy my Great Uncle owned a mushroom farm and sometimes after dinner I would ride along with him to check on the mushrooms. We would walk through the mushroom houses and my Uncle would look at the mushrooms, record temperatures, and adjust machines. It was a fun and somewhat spooky experience for me.
