Like many video production companies, our lighting kit is continually changing and evolving. We used to travel with 2 – Kino Flo Diva 400 kits. A few years back, in an effort to travel lighter, we purchased 2 of the Westcott 1 x 2ft Bi-Color Flex Lights. Both of these light kits fit inside a single DIVA 400 travel case.
We recently had the pleasure of working on a Breast Cancer Awareness spot for Adventist Health Care. The spot was created to play on the jumbotron at the 2019 Washington Spirit’s home finale, for the first “Show Your Survivor Spirit” event. This half time event was host by Adventist Health Care, and the spot was designed to remind those modern busy moms to remember to stay healthy by getting their check ups and mammograms. PulseCinema is super excited and proud of our production team/crew on our new film, The Undeparted, which just won Documentary Cinematography of the Month at the New York Cinematography Awards.
I grew up in the 80s with Atari, model rockets, football in the street, and watching the movies that pushed the boundaries of special effects during the time period. One of the coolest special effects techniques included the usage of Cloud Tanks. When I first saw the dark ominous sky behind Indiana Jones and the work crew as they dug for the Ark of the Covenant, I remember feeling nervous and uneasy about what was to come… later that same foreboding sky opened in a frighting and dramatic way to envelop the evildoers and reseal the Ark.
The fun of a problem is you get to be creative, and you get to try and find a solution! Over the years, I have had a lot of fun creating things like a fan system to quiet the Canon C500’s internal fans, movie lights and modifiers, drip systems for fish tanks, and much more…
